A Call for Advice
Adam has been quite the instigator lately and everyone is a victim to his games. He is an adorable boy that if not constantly busy or entertained gets into trouble. So his new thing has been finding boundaries. Today he said "Don't listen to mom. Let's play!" Now granted he had a smile on his face and a giggle in his voice but I can't let him say things like that and get away with it. So my question is how do you respond to that. I threatened a time out which worked but he is constantly pushing the limits with things like that. I am afraid that time out will soon be a joke to him so I need to be creative. The boy loves to clean and cries if he can't do dishes or vacuum. So adding any chores won't work either. What do you think?

Good luck with that! We are constantly having to reevaluate and reinvent our parenting skills. Let me know what you end up doing!
Wish I could help..Ember is one step below a terror right now. :(
I think it is the age...
I think they are just at an age where they are sassy. Isabella definitely is- I wasn't expecting it before she was a teenager! I have a hard time with timeout being effective too. Something that works for me is taking away privileges, such as TV time, or treats that day. Or when she says something sassy I make her re-say it in a nice voice before I'll do what she wants. Good luck!
