Mt. Lemmon

We have become outdoor-sie people. The kids love playing outside and with awesome weather and great places to go it is really easy to spend all our time in the great outdoors. On this Saturday we took the kids part way up Mt. Lemmon. They were in heaven. They love the mountains. We took their bikes thinking it would be fun to ride on one of the paved trails for a bit. Little did we know what was in store. While we were getting the bikes out Elayna's tire popped. (blessing in disguise) so we decided to let the boys ride and I would walk with Elayna. Things were going great. The boys thought they were the coolest going up and down the little hills. It was especially fun to have dad chasing after them. We started getting into some steeper hills and the boys had to get off and push their bikes up. You would think that we would start thinking of going the other way but nope, up we went. We were stopping along the way checking out the view and the wildlife. It was great. After a bit we decided it was best to head back so we start warning the boys to use their brakes and go slow going down hills. We reviewed how to slow, stop, etc. and made sure they understood. We are all ready and the boys are prepared...so Adam stays slow and next to Greg but Zach starts pedaling and takes off down hill around sharp turns and blind spots for us and we are freaking out. He is usually very cautious so this one has thrown us for a loop. Greg goes chasing after him afraid he will be in a heap at the end of this one hill but instead finds him pedalling up the next hill and giggling. Talk about scaring us to death! After seeing how much fun Zach is having Adam decides to follow suit and off he went. The boys spent 30 minutes at the bottom and even climbed another trail on foot waiting for me and Elayna to get there. Of course we were stopping to check out the flowers and such along the way. It was a great time and would love to do it again. Maybe without the heart-stopping experience.
